The new computing lab in the Doc Room
Alabama Alpha is one step closer to becoming a Residential Learning Community. The recently completed computer lab project is part of the chapters move to improve academic performance.
The lab features two 21.5-inch LED iMac computers with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Deepfreeze. Deepfreeze is a software that locks a partition of the computers hard drive preventing the installation of malicious software by erasing all previous processes upon restart. It also automatically checks for updates and performs regular maintenance tasks. In addition a Canon MX870 serves as a printer, copier and fax machine. The printers wireless feature allows brothers to print directly from their laptops. Eliminating the need to email a paper, or transfer the file to a computer using a flash drive.

The desks were originally cabinets at the far end of the Doc Room.

Housing Manager Grady Bone and brother Jordan Green removed the doors and cut out an area so chairs could fit under the desk and added wood laminate flooring.

The desks were painted and then the computers and printers were added. The project was completed swiftly, nearly two weeks from the chapters agreement to move forward with the project.
The Doc Room is now truly serving as an exceptional study environment.
